With the myhotlap.com race track solution, we place the primary camera facing out the front of the windshield and the secondary camera out the rear of the vehicle. With the front facing camera we typically try to capture the steering wheel and the drivers hands as well as the hood to give a great level of internal and external detail around the track.
The secondary camera is typically used out the back of the car to help with contact and protests in a racing environment.
All of the camera placements are great for post race driver education and review, testing, school days, and learning new tracks. Both cameras can be moved around to fine tune the desired end video result. Below are some common alternative locations for the cameras:

Front (primary) camera - In the grill, under the rear view mirror, under the drivers side mirror.
Rear (secondary) camera - foot box, out of the side window, or facing the driver from the passenger side of the vehicle.

Here is another sample video of race car footage in a Ferrari F430 Challenge car. The video was specifically placed in the car to help with driver development. The driver coach can see all that the driver does and what the car is doing. By using this video this driver went from qualifying 14th out of 18 day one to a 6th place finish in the second race and dropping over 4 seconds on his lap times. |
